The SPRED program serves children and young adults with developmental disabilities such as Down Syndrome, Autism, and Learning Disabilities. During each session, the children or "friends", participate in catechesis and joyful activities designed to lead them closer to their best friend, Jesus.
The SPRED program at All Saints Catholic Church serves children from ages 6 - 16 years old. The ability to read is not a requirement! All projects and activities are designed to meet the needs of children at various levels of achievement.
Session Times and Dates: SPRED sessions are held 13 times each year from September through April. The sessions are scheduled for Saturday mornings in the Religious Education Building.

A Typical SPRED Session
Each SPRED session is designed around a specific topic as determined by the Archdiocese of Chicago which founded the SPRED program in the United States. The SPRED program changes annually and each session has three components; Gathering and Welcoming, Sacred Scripture, and Agape..
The session begins with fun time and a group activity, usually involving arts and crafts connected to the Mass, Sacred Scripture, and daily life. The second component includes readings and messages from Sacred Scripture, following by singing sacred music, and ending with a personal blessing. Participants do not use a textbook and the ability to read is not necessary. The final component of each session is a special agape gathering for fellowship time and a snack.
